I spent the first half of the week in Massachusetts and then made it back down South late Wednesday night. On Thursday, I said bye bye to my purple hair – with the move and summer (sun, chlorine) right around the corner it only made sense.
Friday night we headed out for my friend Emilee’s birthday. We met at Draught and then hopped on a party bus and went to a handful of bars. Look at this gorgeous cake and cake pops that our friend Lauren got for her.
Champagne buttercream frosting.
The night ended up with a silver platter of hotdogs at the last bar we went to. No complaints from anyone involved.
I can’t say that I felt fantastic on Saturday morning, but I could’ve felt a lot worse. I can’t imagine that the drink and food choices from Friday had a thing to do with it. I threw together a smoothie with all sorts of magic to bring me back to life. Then, it was off to the races…
I was super excited to go to the Queen’s Cup Steeplechase. I had never been to anything like it so when our friends, Cortney and Akil, invited us to go, I knew we had to.
The day started with some mimosas. If the smoothie didn’t make me feel better this sure did the trick. I can’t decide what I liked looking at more, the pretty champagne bottle or the vibrant flowers.
“Said because we play all night and we play all day / Living this champagne life and everything’s okay / Let’s toast it up”
The weather wasn’t exactly ideal for an outdoor event. The temperature and overcast were fine by me, but I would’ve much rather there have been no rain…but yet again, who wouldn’t? We didn’t let the rain ruin our day. Our outfits had enough color to bring a little extra light anyways. 😉
A little (or a lot) of rain wasn’t going to ruin this parade.
Cortney is seriously the hostess with the mostest. Whether it’s a tailgate or house party she is always so prepared. We had to make sure to take as many pictures as possible before the rain started again.
Once the races were over it was time to head to the after party. “The Hot Walk Party” takes place in a large tent on Member’s Hill. It was their 20th anniversary this year and the party was complete with music from the Liquid Pleasure Band, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. I had such a great time. Maybe too good of a time.

And then this happened this morning…
If loving you is wrong, then I don’t want to be right.
Whoopsies.. I just wanted to keep my weekend as Southern as possible. I can’t say things got a whole lot better in the food department today. I remembered that I have a gift certificate to Fuel Pizza that I needed to use before we moved so figured why not? I opted to try something new and got the “Aloha” pizza. Mozzarella, honey, ham, bacon, pineapple and jalapeno. Excellent decision.
My friend Christina posted about Vinylux nail polish the other day. It’s supposed to last longer and have less chipping. I was picking up an eyeliner the other day and happened to see a similar product made by Sally Hansen and figured I would give it a try.
It WILL be a miracle if this lasts 14 days.
Let’s see how long this lasts. I’ll be sure to report back in. It was definitely quick to apply and went on really easily. Now, just need to see how long it lasts and how easily it can be removed.
I hope you all had a great weekend. Now, it’s time for me to figure out what I’m doing with what’s left of the day. ❤
Have you been to Queen’s Cup Steeplechase before? If not, have you been to a similar event?
Sounds like you had a great time! As one who was born and raised in Kentucky, I went to the Derby several times. In my younger years I went to the “infield” with all the crazy partying. (Barely survived that.) In later years, I went to the Clubhouse a few times. Both were fun times that I’ll always remember. To this day, I still become very emotional when they play “My Old Kentucky Home”!

Some things in life are better when they’re big. This brush was definitely not one of them. The polish lasted the same amount of time as your attention span to your latest man crush.
